The mechanical dewatering press solution is primarily intended to be used to dewater solid biomaterials such as wood chips, bark and sawdust from sawmills, before being used as a biofuel. Biomaterial contains up to 65% water, and must be dried before gasification or pellet production. Using the mechanical dewatering press makes it easy to achieve higher profit by enabling increasing production volume in existing plants, and at the same time the need of energy is reduced and the heat value at gasification is increased.

The mechanical dewatering press solution is considerably more effective than conventional thermic drying techniques.
